About ParentCalls
ParentCalls provides regular wellbeing calls for older parents, together with simple updates for the family.
The aim is straightforward: help older parents stay connected and independent, while giving families greater visibility and peace of mind.
It is designed to fill the gap between family contact and formal care.
A Simple Way to Stay Closer
Many families find themselves in a difficult middle ground. They care deeply about an older parent and want to support them, but life, distance and responsibilities mean they cannot always be there.
That gap can appear before care is needed, when concerns are starting to emerge but there is no obvious next step. It can also remain after support is in place, when family visits, carers and appointments each provide only a snapshot.
As a result, it can be surprisingly difficult to know how someone is really doing between those moments of contact.
ParentCalls is built around regular conversations with trained, supervised Wellbeing Callers who understand how to speak with older people patiently, respectfully and without rushing.
The value is not just the call itself. It is the routine, the human attention, and the small changes that can be noticed over time.
For families, that means fewer blind spots, earlier awareness, and a clearer sense of when something may need attention.
Richard Phillips, Founder
I grew up in South Africa, studied engineering, and moved to the UK in 2003.
Over the last two decades I have worked across the private, public and third sectors, helping organisations improve services and customer experiences. Before founding ParentCalls, I held senior leadership roles in data, analytics and service improvement.
The idea for ParentCalls came from my own experience with my parents and in-laws, and the uncertainty many families face as they grow older. It can be surprisingly difficult to know how someone is really doing between visits and phone calls, particularly when life, distance and responsibilities mean you cannot always be there.
